Settings

The Settings page is where you fine-tune how Wasp Inventory behaves for your whole account. These are the preferences that shape everyday work (how numbers are formatted, what values default in, and how certain features act), so it’s worth a look when you’re getting set up.

Open it from the Settings (gear) menu at the top of the app.

  • These are account-wide preferences, so editing them needs administrator-level access. If sections are missing or read-only, your role doesn’t include them. See Roles & permissions.
  • Email (SMTP) works out of the box through Wasp’s own mail server, so invitations, notifications, and scheduled reports can send without any setup; configure your own SMTP server here only if you want mail to come from your own domain. A configured time zone lets scheduled reports run when you expect.
  • Changing decimal places affects how existing quantities and costs display everywhere, so agree on the format with your team before switching it.

Settings are grouped into sections so related preferences stay together. Depending on your edition and setup, you’ll find preferences that let you:

  • Format numbers — choose how many decimal places show for quantities and costs, so amounts display the way your business expects.
  • Set defaults — pick the values that fill in automatically on new records and transactions, saving keystrokes and keeping data consistent.
  • Tune behaviors — turn certain features and prompts on or off to match how your team works.
  • Lock the account during a count — switch on Audit Mode Lockdown to limit everyone to audit and reconcile transactions while you’re counting. See Audit Mode Lockdown.
  • Configure email — use Wasp’s mail server by default, or switch to your own SMTP details for invitations, notifications, and documents.
  • Set up Single Sign-On — let your team sign in through your company’s identity provider (ADFS or SAML) instead of a Wasp Inventory password.

To change a setting, find the right section, adjust the value, and save.

The email section controls how Wasp Inventory sends messages on your behalf: user invitations, notifications, and scheduled report deliveries. By default it uses Wasp’s own mail server, so there’s nothing to configure; switch to your own SMTP server here if you want mail to come from your own domain. If email-dependent features aren’t working, this is the first place to check. See Outgoing email (SMTP) for the full walkthrough.

  • A section is missing or grayed out. It’s gated by your product edition or your role. An administrator can adjust access under Roles & permissions.
  • User invitations or scheduled reports aren’t sending. If you switched on your own SMTP server, its settings are probably incomplete or invalid. Correct them in the email section, or switch back to Use Wasp Configuration.
  • A scheduled report ran at the wrong time. Set the account time zone here: schedules run against it, not each person’s local clock.
  • A change didn’t seem to take effect for a teammate. Settings apply account-wide but a signed-in user may need to refresh or sign in again to pick up the new value.

Some preferences live in their own areas rather than here, for example, your Company Details, custom fields (Form Customization), Units of Measure, and Number Series. You’ll find those alongside Settings in the same Settings (gear) menu.
