Welcome to Wasp Inventory

Welcome! Wasp Inventory is a cloud-based inventory management system from Wasp Barcode Technologies that helps your team know exactly what you have, where it is, and what to do next. This page gives you a quick lay of the land so you can find your way around.

Wasp Inventory is a web application you sign in to from your browser. Your inventory data lives securely in the cloud, so your whole team works from the same up-to-date picture, whether they’re at a desk or scanning items out on the floor.

Because it’s built around barcode-driven workflows, Wasp Inventory is a great fit for teams that need accurate stock counts without the busywork of spreadsheets.

Wasp Inventory is designed for the people who keep stock moving:

  • Inventory and warehouse managers who need an accurate, real-time view of stock across every location.
  • Purchasing and receiving clerks who order from vendors and check shipments in.
  • Warehouse and floor staff who add, move, pick, and count items day to day.
  • Administrators who set up sites, users, and the rules everyone works within.

Here are the big things Wasp Inventory helps you accomplish:

  • Track items and stock across multiple sites. Keep tabs on how much of each item you have and exactly where it lives, down to the location and zone.
  • Buy stock with purchase orders. Order from your vendors, then receive shipments in as they arrive.
  • Fulfill orders with pick orders. Gather the right items for a customer and pick them for shipment.
  • Keep counts honest with audits. Count your stock, compare it to what the system expects, and reconcile any differences.
  • Understand your inventory with reports. Run built-in reports, schedule them, and print labels and receipts.

This site is grouped to match the way you work:

  • Getting Started (you’re here) — signing in, a tour of the screen, and the key concepts behind everything else.
  • Items — creating and managing the products you track.
  • Actions — the everyday transactions that change stock: add, remove, adjust, move, check out, and check in.
  • Purchase Orders — ordering from vendors and receiving shipments.
  • Pick Orders — fulfilling orders for customers.
  • Audits — counting stock and reconciling differences.
  • Reports — reports, labels, and receipts.
  • Settings and administration — company details, users, roles, and configuration.

If you’re setting things up for the first time, this order works well:

  1. Sign in: see Signing in and out.
  2. Learn the layout so you can find anything quickly: see A tour of the screen.
  3. Get the vocabulary down (items, sites, transactions, and orders) with Key concepts.
  4. Set up your reference lists (sites, locations, vendors, and more) from the Lookups section, or bring them in all at once with Importing data from a CSV or Excel file.
  5. Add the products you track: see Creating an item.

From there, the day-to-day work (receiving stock, picking orders, and counting inventory) falls into place.

  • Do I need to install anything? Not on the cloud edition. Wasp Inventory runs entirely in your web browser: just sign in. The on-premises edition is installed on your own servers instead.
  • Can my whole team use it at once? Yes. Your data lives in the cloud, so everyone works from the same live data.
  • I don’t see a section this site describes. You’ll only see the areas your role and edition allow. Ask your administrator if you think you’re missing access.
